Riddarholm Church

Riddarholm Church or Riddarholmskyrkan is one of the Stockholm oldest buildings. The church was consecrated about 1300. In the Middle Ages the church had the name Gråbrödrakyrkan and belonged to the Franciscan monastery.

In 1527 closed the Franciscan monastery and the church became Protestant.

Gustavus Adolf was buried in the church in 1634. After this, the church is used as a royal burial church. There are seventeen Swedish kings with families buried in Riddarholm Church. King has disposition to the church managed by the National Property Board.
