The majority of the tourists travel to the Stockholm via airplane. The main airport in Stockholm is Arlanda (ARN) which is served by sixty major airlines. Another "city airport" known as Bromma (BMA) is also present in Stockholm.
Arlanda Airport is 40 kilometers north of Stockholm City. The visitors after arriving can take rent a car services, a taxi, a bus or train for moving to their hotel destination.
Skavsta (NYO) and Västerås (VST) airports are the small airports which are far away from the city. Västerås airposrt is located 100 km west of Stockholm and Skavsta airport is 100 km south of Stockholm.
All four airports of the Stockholm are connected to downtown via public transportation and airport coaches. But train service can also be used from Stockholm Arlanda-Airport which is called the Arlanda Express. Moving to and from the Arlanda airport can also be through Flygbussarna Airport Coaches and air shuttle buses.
Bromma (BMA) airport is nearby central Stockholm. If you land at Arlanda airport or Skavsta airport then it would be unnecessarily expensive to take taxi as there are also buses to the city center. The taxi fares are not regulated in Stockholm so the rates will be different for different companies.
